The nanoemulsion was developed at the University of Michigan and was then moved to a Biotech Company, NanoBio Corp, Ann Arbor, MI, for further development of applications and commercialization. One anti-fungal application utilizing nanoemulsion is a treatment for Onychomycosis, which is a common, chronic persistent fungal infection of the nail bed resulting in thickening and discoloration of the nail.
